Information Technology and Cybersecurity
Equilibrium believes that Information Technology (ICT) and Cybersecurity describes an integrated capability to design, operate and secure digital services across public and private organisations, aligned to global standards and Australian Government requirements.
ICT capability spans strategy, architecture, implementation and support of networks, cloud platforms, applications and data, underpinned by recognised frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27001 and related ISO/IEC 27000‑series standards for information security management, along with IT service management and enterprise architecture practices that ensure availability, performance and compliance.
Cybersecurity capability covers risk assessment, security architecture, control implementation, security operations, incident response and recovery, mapped to international frameworks such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST SP 800‑53 and sector‑specific standards like ISA/IEC 62443 for operational technology. Service providers demonstrate conformance with major regulatory regimes including GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS and industry‑specific cyber obligations to support clients’ statutory and assurance requirements.
In the Australian Government context, ICT and Cybersecurity services must align with the Australian Cyber Security Strategy, the Cyber Security Act (including mandatory standards for smart devices), and the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act and Rules for critical infrastructure entities. Providers are expected to implement and interpret the Australian Signals Directorate Information Security Manual (ISM) and associated cybersecurity guidelines, and to support Essential Eight maturity uplift, governance, risk and compliance reporting across Commonwealth, state/territory and critical infrastructure environments. Together, this demonstrates an end‑to‑end capability to deliver secure‑by‑design ICT services that are compliant with both international good practice and Australian government policy, legislation and standards.
