Business Continuity Planning - The Issue
As organisations become increasingly dependent on their IT systems to conduct their day to day activities, they are also becoming increasingly vulnerable to disasters that destroy or disrupt those systems. Disasters and major disruptions can come from many different sources. It could be a sustained power outage, or a catastrophic IT systems failure caused by a disgruntled employee, hacker or virus, a fire or flood, or a terrorist incident.
Stakeholders in organisations today increasingly expect them to have a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) in place so that if disaster does strike, business can carry on with minimal disruption. However, whilst most organisations recognise the need to implement BCP, only a relatively small number actually have a documented Business Continuity Plan in place. As usual, the obstacles are usually cited as time and money.
BCP does not have to be a time consuming and expensive activity. BCP is now a well established and mature discipline, and whilst there is no such thing as a “one size fits all” BCP, frameworks, tools and templates have been developed by experts in the field that can get you through the process rapidly and cost effectively.
Equilibrium offers BCP Services through our specialist network association. Find out more by requesting information using our form.
